ATI VIDEO DRIVER FIX

Errors caused by a conflict between the ATI mach 64 video driver and Prehistoria include General Protection Fault messages in the module GDI.EXE.

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Exit Windows.
  • Type CD\Windows (hit enter).
  • Type edit system.ini (hit enter).
  • Search for the heading [macx]. Once this heading is found, add the following line to the bottom of the [macx] section: DeviceBitmap=Off.
  • Save the file by clicking File then Save. Exit the file by clicking File then Exit.
  • After exiting the file, close out Windows and reboot your machine to make sure the changes take effect.
  • Note: If you already have a line that says DeviceBitmaps=Off under the [macx] heading, remove just the "s" from DeviceBitmaps=Off line so it reads DeviceBitmap=Off. Save the file, exit, and reboot.
