CALL TO UNDEFINED DYNALINK

This error message is caused by having more than one version of QuickTime for Windows on your system. To correct this error, older versions of QuickTime will need to be removed from your system. To remove all older versions of QuickTime for Windows from your system, try the following suggestions in the order given:

  • Reinstall the 1995 Guinness CD-ROM

When you reinstall the 1995 Guinness Disc of Records you may be notified that other versions of QuickTime for Windows files exist on your system. When installing QuickTime you may be prompted to allow Guinness to delete these other versions of QuickTime to avoid conflicts.

  • Search for Other Versions of QuickTime

From the Program Manager select Run from the File menu. In the Command Line Box type WINFILE then press (enter).

  • Search for all qt*.dll files on your hard drive.
  • Select Search from the File menu.
  • Type QT*.DLL in the Search For box.
  • Type your hard drive letter followed by a colon.
  • Make sure that the Search all Subdirectories checkbox has a check in it then press (enter).
  • Select all the files found in the Search Results window.
  • Choose Select Files...from the File menu.
  • Type *.* in the File(s) box and press (enter).
  • Single-click the Close button.
  • Delete all of the files in The Search Results window.
  • Press the Delete key on your keyboard.
  • You will be asked to confirm your request. (VERIFY THAT YOU ARE DELETING THE CORRECT FILES!) Answer OK to the first confirmation request and then "Yes to All" for any subsequent requests.
  • After the files are deleted you will be asked if you wish to update the Search Results window, answer NO.
  • Search for all *.qtc files on your hard drive and delete them.
  • Repeat, substituting *.QTC for QT*.DLL in the Search For window.
  • Exit File Manager and then exit Windows.
  • Restart Windows and reinstall the product that you have which uses the latest version of QuickTime.

Note: If you have more than one hard drive, or have a partitioned hard drive, you will need to repeat the steps for each hard drive or partition, substituting the appropriate drive letter each time.
