1995 Guinness Multimedia Disc of Records 1995 Guinness Multimedia Disc of Records Windows\Macintosh versions Versions 3.0 - 3.02 General Operating Tips WINDOWS VERSIONS Virtual Memory You need to increase the size of the swapfile that you are using in Windows. The swapfile can be adjusted by going into the Main icon in Program Manager and selecting Control Panels. Select 386 Enhanced and click the Virtual Memory button. This will bring up the drive, size, and type of your swapfile. Hit change to adjust the swapfile size. Type in a new size of approximately 10000 to 20000 kb. Hit OK once you have entered in the new size. Enter "yes" to making changes and restart Windows. Lockups - At the Registration Reminder You will need to disable the registration reminder if the 1995 Guinness CD-ROM locks up after the registration reminder appears. You can do this by editing the ggn95.ini file. To edit the ggn95.ini file from a DOS prompt (C:\), type cd ggn95 (enter). At the C:\GGN95>, type edit ggn95.ini (enter). Look for the line that says ShowRegistration=1. Change the 1 in that line to a 0, so the line reads ShowRegistration=0. Go to File and down to Save, then File and Exit. Printing If you get a General Protection Fault in a printer driver module such as HPDeskjet.drv, this is normally a conflict with the printer driver. Changing to a generic printer driver through the printers icon in Windows 3.1/3.11 should allow you to print from the program. There are no inherent printing problems at this time with the 1995 Guinness Multimedia Disc of Records. There are two symptoms: 1) the bottom of the playback control strip is being cut off and 2) the movie quality is very bad -- almost as if it was in 16 colors. The latest ATI video drivers should resolve this problem. There are other ATI cards based on the Mach 8 chipset that may or may not exhibit these same problems. These new drivers should work for any video cards based on this chipset. ATI drivers can be downloaded at ftp.atitech.ca.
