New Features, New Information, Improved Interface

New features:

• Interactivities: "hands-on," in-depth explorations of fascinating subjects such as the Solar System and Famous Buildings, using animations, pictures, video, and more.
• Guided Tours: 16 surveys of topics such as American Women and World of Islam (successor to Pathmakers).
• Grolier Internet Index: More than 11,000 GME articles now have direct links to Internet sites selected by our editors. New links are added every month.

New and updated information:

• 1,050 new articles, plus 5,000 updated articles.
• 750 new images, including 500 new subjects. 195 new detailed country flags.
• More than 200 new maps, including: 136 historical maps (e.g., Ancient Rome, Viking Raids); 36 thematic maps (languages, religions, etc.); and 20 city maps (Moscow, Istanbul, and more). In addition, 200 existing maps have been revised and updated.
• 11 new videos; all videos now display with backdrops that put them in context.

Interface improvements:

• 4 Interface Themes let you control the appearance of your GME.
• Encyclopedia display can be resized to take advantage of large monitors.
• "Back," "History," "Previous," and "Next" buttons make it easier to get around in the GME.
• Search dialogs are consolidated and simplified.
